MILANO FASHION WEEK 2021 — Spring / Summer 2022 Women’s Fashion Collections
There are 102 looks that make up the new Dolce&Gabbana collection, marked by the hashtag #DGlight: light as in light, evoked by the explosion of crystals, rhinestones and precious stones on high-impact garments, but also light as in that lightness that we all want to find again and that takes us back to the beginning of the 2000s, full of ideas and expectations towards the future.
At the Metropol, narrow but also cargo silhouettes, over and slim fits, revisited bustiers, black and animalier miniskirts, the return of the bodysuit and the camouflage jacket, but with leopard-skin style piping, combined with a precious skirt and lace underwear: all in the name of an abundance of embroidery and colors, without fear of exaggeration, as in the zebra print jacket with sleeves that look like large wings.
Minimal beachwear, which turns out to be clothing to all intents and purposes when worn over see-through underwear.
PRADA: The seduction by reduction of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons
Prada’s co-creative directors, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, speak of a “seduction by reduction”, introducing the brand’s SS22 collection, staged simultaneously at the Prada Foundation Depot in Milan and at Bund 1 in Shanghai: video screens made the two shows talk to each other, combining physical and virtual realities in spaces set up in a similar way.
The very short skirts, in metallic shades ranging from lemon yellow to lavender, sport the unexpected detail of a long silk train, but reduced to the essential, which is not the only reference to the past: on the runway there are also jackets and dresses with splints and fastenings reminiscent of those of corsets, not to evoke a concept of restriction but, on the contrary, to emphasize a body that the very architecture of the garments liberates and enhances.

The concept behind this collection is a modern take on disco glamour, full of powerful and effortless femininity. Silhouettes are fluid, floral prints and feathers create this timeless look known from ancient times.

Today finally realized: the fashion week, carried out in full compliance with the anti-Covid rules, is there bringing back to the glories of the pre-pandemic fashion industry (and then, we ask ourselves, did it make sense to ask ourselves what fashion would have been like after the coronavirus?).
The appointments with the fashion shows, announced by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, were hold more in presence (there were 42, while 23 remained digital). Thanks also to the presentations with or without an appointment, of which 56 in presence and 19 digitals. And with another 33 events scheduled, the CNMI restarted with 173 appointments.
What did expect from the collections presented at the Spring Summer 2022 fashion shows of this Milan Fashion Week? Energy, enthusiasm, ecstasy. Energy is the engine that moves everything, starting with the creative flair of the designers who come back more vital and charged than ever.
