ANTEPRIMA FASHION WEEK 2025 -2026 COLLECTION

IZUMI OGINO BRINGS WEARABLE ART TO THE RUNWAY

WITH JAPANESE ARTIST IZUMI KATO

The new FW 25-26 collection from Anteprima, born from the collaboration between designer Izumi Ogino and contemporary Japanese artist Izumi Kato, is a fusion of fashion and art. Kato’s works, characterized by enigmatic figures that blend human and spiritual elements, serve as the inspiration for a collection that is not only a visual expression but also an experience to be lived. “What the viewer thinks of the work is more important than what I think” emphasizes Izumi Kato, because every artwork gains meaning through the individual interpretation of the observer.

This concept is perfectly reflected in Izumi Ogino’s fashion, which is designed to express and reflect the unique personality of each woman who wears it. Just like Kato’s works, which reveal themselves differently depending on the viewer’s perspective and sensitivity, Anteprima’s garments invite one to express their individuality and beauty.

“Now more than ever, I want Anteprima to be a canvas for individuality. Just as Kato leaves his art open to interpretation, I hope that every woman who wears these pieces finds her own meaning and way to express beauty and strength” explains Izumi Ogino, Creative Director of Anteprima.

The concept of “Modern Primitive” lies at the heart of the collection, which unites art and fashion in a timeless dimension. Each garment is designed to transcend the seasons, with a minimalist aesthetic that plays on dichotomies: modern and raw, clean and worn, simple and complex. A perfect balance between authentic roots and innovation.

The new collection combines minimalist design with artisanal craftsmanship and natural textures, creating pieces that transcend time and seasons. Each item becomes a true work of art to wear, inviting reflection and personalization. The iconic two-dimensional motifs of Kato’s works come to life in three-dimensional forms through knitwear, while techniques such as polka dots and stamping on knitwear add a nostalgic and rebellious dimension to the collection.

In continuity with SS25, the FW 25-26 color palette is enriched with autumn and winter tones: natural greens and browns intertwine with sand/khaki, winter yellow, and rustic camel, while deep tones of cherry lacquer and deep purple add a mysterious touch. Beige and light pink, in contrast, evoke sweetness and nostalgia, completing a palette that invites reflection and emotion.

Texture takes center stage this season: cashmere, velvet, mohair, and winter mesh merge to offer a unique sensory experience. Innovative materials like fleece, nylon, and bouclé contribute to an aesthetic that invites living every garment as a work of art, meant to be touched and experienced.

The collection focuses on oversized and unisex silhouettes. Starting with the alpaca-blend sweater, which incorporates motifs from Kato’s works, such as mandarin ducks and alien faces, it is a perfect example of wearable art. The oversized unisex coat, made from ribbed velvet-effect knitwear, and the double wool blazer with a quilted nylon jacket, enriched with embroidery inspired by Kato’s works, represent a unique fusion of fashion and art, creating a timeless and universal style.

This collection invites us to see fashion as a true work of art, evolving and coming to life with the person who wears it: every Anteprima piece becomes an expression of individuality and a tribute to beauty that can be interpreted in different ways, just like Izumi Kato’s works.

BIOGRAPHY OF IZUMI KATO

Izumi Kato, born in 1969 in Shimane, Japan, is an internationally renowned contemporary artist known for his enigmatic and otherworldly figures that blend human and spiritual elements. A graduate of Musashino Art University in 1992, Kato began his career as a painter before expanding into sculpture, using materials such as wood, stone, and soft vinyl. His works, characterized by infantile yet mystical beings with elongated limbs and unsettling gazes, evoke a primal and universal connection with nature and the subconscious. Kato’s creations explore themes of abstraction and concreteness, presenting embryonic alien creatures floating in liminal spaces. These empty spaces, as well as the images themselves, are rich with meaning, without the need for additional context. Kato’s work is widely recognized for its raw and intuitive energy, capable of evoking a deep cultural resonance. He has exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale in 2007, earning a prominent place in the contemporary art scene.
