HUAYLARSH – Fall Winter 2024 Collection
Jorge Luis Salinas has emerged as a leading personality in the South American fashion scene, consequently gaining significant recognition internationally. In Peru, he is revered as ‘The Pride of Gamarra’, a tribute to the Peruvian textile emporium where he perfected his craftsmanship and refined his talent.
His passion led him to study fashion design at the prestigious Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science, located in the United States. Here, he had the opportunity to immerse himself in the creative and technical environment of fashion, developing a unique and innovative vision.
His efforts and commitment were rewarded with significant successes, including winning the international Inter Jeans Men’s Fashion Week competition in Cologne, Germany, and Gen Art in New York. These accomplishments have placed Salinas in the spotlight of the international fashion scene, confirming his mastery in the industry.
In 2016, Jorge Salinas founded his brand ‘J.Salinas’, bringing his creative vision to the catwalks of New York Fashion Week. His boldness and talent attracted the attention of media and buyers worldwide, opening doors to prestigious partnerships and collaboration opportunities. In addition, his designs and garments were subsequently displayed in the prestigious Macy’s department store until 2021.
His collaboration with Andean weaving committees has added an element of sustainability and authenticity to his production, with local artisans handcrafting many of his garments in the provinces of Huancayo, Puno, Huancavelica, Moquegua and others. This approach not only enhances local craft traditions, but also creates meaningful bonds with the communities in which it operates.
After a short break, Jorge Salinas returns to the catwalks, choosing Milan to present his FW 2024/25 collection.
HUAYLARSH
Salinas’ new collection is a tribute to the costumes of the typical dances of the city of Junìn, a town located in the central cordillera of Peru, in the region of Junin, near the suggestive lake of the same name. The textures and workmanship of the collection take inspiration from the flowers of the typical costumes of the Andean region, which in turn derive from the ‘flor de la patata’ flower and are developed in hand-worked alpaca wool prints and embroideries. The garments presented are precious in their fabrics and applications.
The collection consists of dresses, outerwear, skirts, trousers and shorts, made of a variety of fine textile materials that celebrate Peru’s local heritage and cultural richness. The fabrics featured in the collection are alpaca wool, calfskin and silk organza. Craftsmanship in manufacturing and fabric blends are mandatory for Salinas.
Bags with pleated details made of calfskin, and alpaca wool accessories such as gloves, scarves and hats enrich next season’s garments.
The colours featured in the collection are vibrant and range from bright pink to red, orange and mustard, to various shades of lilac.
